Kungchido is a new kind of martial art created by Grandmaster Mr Saroj Krishna Joshi of Nepal. It is the unique self defence technique formed by the combination of three popular martial arts: Kung fu, Tai Chi and Karate-Do [1]. The name itself has been derived from the combination of these three popular martial arts. Kungchido includes the basic stances, punches, striking, blocks and kicking. Kungchido also involves breathing exercises. Grand master Joshi has put forth two breathing exercises - BodhiLu1 and BodhiLu 2. BodhiLu1 is breathing exercise performed in the stationary position. It involves breathing in and out while hands, legs and body being in stationary position. BodhiLu 2 is similar to BodhiLu 1 except it involves movements with respect to space. The name Bodhi – Lu 1 and 2 are derived from the words, Bodhisattvas and Lumbini. It connects the birthplace of the Buddha in Lumbini, Nepal to the Shaolin Temple of China, where Bodhisattvas (the followers of Buddha) introduced Kung fu to Monks in the fourth century.[2][3]

International Martial Arts Academies (I.M.A) has recognised the Grandmaster Mr. Joshi as Frrestyle Martial Artist of the year 2013.[4]
